Rabbi Solomon Raphael Kuh

The portrait of Solomon Raphael Kuh was painted in 1849, after he immigrated to the United States. Kuh had been a rabbi in Prague, Czechoslovakia; his ancestors had fled the Inquisition in Spain and settled in Austria in 1498. He was the father of Anna Kuh Pollitzer, wife of Moritz and mother of the children pictured on the previous page.
